A Tour de Boston: Unmasked, Unburdened, and Underaged
in which I became a groupie and toured Bijou, Club 51, Caveau, Memoir, and The Jungle.
“Not everything is going according to plan” — my FIN 1 professor. Apologies for the delay, I was sick.
Wrap: Masks were banned from the Encore masquerade; RCs and ECs came together, kind of, at the Euro party while I stood and mourned the loss of really skinny white jeans — is Eurotrash dead? A very pretty Frenchman djed for a group of 18-year-olds and HBSers at Club 51; Provincetown featured reserved DFMOs; AASU + ABA put on a very sexy fashion show; and my decade-long crush Wiley Beckett played The Jungle and I was transported back to Cantab, March 2020.
“HBS is culturally ruled by the Levant — it’s very Fertile Crescent adjacent.”
— the wise words of an upperclassman after I remarked that our scene is heavily influenced by the Lebanese.
Last week
On the Euro club party at Caveau — pictures here.
The afternoon following the party, one of the DJs lounged on the lawn and asked:
Are you unburdened by what has been?
King Charles single handedly saved Britain x European relations, celebrating with Europe’s finest champagne.
ECs are statistically taller.
There was a genuine sense of elation in the air…the room was ripe and alive with RC anxiety which mixed quite well with the EC’s superiority complexes.
On the party bus to Caveau, the bus driver asked us one simple thing: Please, don’t get naked. I took my top off.
I observed an EC, standing on the couch of his table, arms folded, glasses on the tip of his nose, looking very displeased by the sea of RCs in front of him.
Oh, you’re not Lebanese?
The party was great but could have been much better with reggaeton.
Getting into the dj booth at Caveau was all I’d ever dreamed of when thinking about HBS. Dreams really do come true.
On Fabrizio at Limoncello —
I didn’t realize real Italians existed in Boston — gold chain gelled hair wet kiss Italians. I got the most action I’ve had all semester from Fabrizio of Limoncello. Highly recommend paying him a visit if you are lonely.
On Rome at Club 51 —
Embarrassed to attend an 18+ event but proud to support the work of struggling French artists who work at Blackrock.
If you are considering HBS for the party scene, note that it is not much different than the experience of Northeastern and Boston University undergrads.
I witnessed my super hot, married friend get hit on by a college freshman. It was life-affirming. I don’t remember them being so bold when I was in college.
The enigmatic Rome captured the ears and hearts of HBS women with his deep house beats and enchanting charisma.
On Masquerade at Encore —
In a very last-minute announcement, the masquerade became a normal black-tie affair at a casino but the good thing is that at HBS everyone’s masks are already on.
All of a sudden it got really fun and packed. Lots of non-HBS people showed up who are actually really hot — MIT?
If you wanted to feel something, you could take a break from dancing and go lose money.
On Provincetown —
One of us got kicked out of the bar for doing ket, and 2 gays fought over a guy.
ALL the RC fems/thems are messy, hot, and open.
Mentally, I was a slut. Physically, I was terrified of intimacy. Spiritually, I didn’t like men.
We saw a dolphin get saved and reintroduced into the ocean. Nothing like a bunch of speedo gays cheering on a dolphin reentering her god given space.
Everything was so perfect and wholesome. I wondered if I was the problem, should I be stirring shit?
At the end of the night…it didn’t really matter what, who, or how you did. We were all there for our last 1am supper at Spiritus Pizza.
On Vermont —
I always thought Cambridge, MA was pretty white but recently learned Cambridge, VT is even whiter. Glad to know we temporarily increased the black population out there by over 800% while looking good and getting lit.
The AASU retreat was like an art museum — everybody can look but can’t touch. It’s the only place I’ve been where none of the women or men are interested in touching anybody.
HBS preaches about being leaders who make a change in the world, and we did just that. We raised the black population from 10 people to 130.
On the Brits in NY —
Na, I’ve had enough, I need a full day to recover, the HBS people are absolutely way too intense.
This week
Tonight, Midnight Rodeo is happening at Loretta’s Last Call, hosted by the Texas and Canadian clubs.
LASO is coming to La Fabrica for Miami Vice. A great theme.
My favorite Greek, Apo, is having a groovy bday tomorrow in a basement.
My favorite financier, TJ, is also celebrating his birthday this weekend.
