Downtown's immortality, Frost Fest, and a big Thursday ahead
So far, the best thing I've done in Boston is attend the Chinese Youth Piano Concerto Competition. Here's what's happening in NY instead.
I miss New York so I’m writing a newsletter about the events I wish I could go to this week.
Boston Wrap: I felt conspicuously old at a college(?) indie rock show in Somerville, listened to New England country at Cantab, attended a Chinese youth piano concerto competition at NEC, had a club soda at Boston’s equivalent of Tao, took some photos at a block party/clothing pop-up at an Allston gallery, played blackjack at Encore, and made a much-anticipated return to my favorite pub — Shay’s.
This week
Tonight (8/19), Bryan Johnson and DeSciNYC are throwing an Immortality Party. I’m a fan of Bryan’s supplement routine (I take NMN, magnesium, and holy water) but I think the party’s hosts have actually cracked the code to immortality: perpetually hanging out with 20-year-olds to preserve their youthful glow. Hosts include Nolita Dirtbag, Matthew Donovan, Danny Cole, Neoliberalhell, Yung Nihilist, and PradaHorseShoe. Angel (of Frost Children) and We Take Manhattan are djing.
Tuesday (8/20), Dina and Aria are throwing a Sweet Sixteen, in proper form, at Gonzo’s. themasterofcum, angel emoji, jack fuck, ivana, chris lloyd, marcus maddox, and number1fairytale are hosting. DJs are itg.url, dj shallow, the life, dj shawty, and citibikeboyz. Tully is taking photos.
Also, Time Again is having a rare salty food fest with Kronnerburger and Mayday Seafood Tuesday evening.
Wednesday (8/21), Julian LaMadrid is debuting his music as The Cave at Jean’s, downstairs. He is very talented. Don’t miss.
Thursday (8/22)
Miss Madeline is having her So Dramatic release party at 99 Scott. Paper is hosting, and Miss Madeline will be accompanied by Mowalola, Toccororo, and Memphy.
The Zora App is launching and celebrating with a party at Nublu. YWGI, Jessicunt, Las Flaquitas, Fatherbop, and BDGRLBKLYN are djing. Hosts include Harmony, fuck.this.industry, sweetrelease08, LOLA dement myers, and Sneaky Black Bullet. The names get better and better.
Frost Children’s Frost Fest kicks off at the Music Hall of Williamsburg with Danny Brown, Lip Critic, Pieri, Feardorian.
Writer-filmmaker Jeffrey Wengrofsky is hosting his monthly Metropolis Literary Salon at TV Eye. Eugene S. Robinson, Tony O-Neill, and Steven Blush are reading.
SeedyJ is at Jean’s and rumor has it there might be a special appearance.
Breaker, Wilmah, The Girls Upstairs, and Two Headed Woman are performing live for Heavan Can Wait’s DNA. All Your Stupid Friends are djing.
Petit Mort is throwing a release party for Raices at Fig.19.
We Take Manhattan are djing Wiggle Room. Big Dumb Baby is hosting.
Friday (8/23)
Club Chess returns from HelLA to Le Bain, early (5-10pm), with Harmony, DJ BFGF, and Ex Wiish.
To continue Frost Fest, Big Rocco is live, with dj sets by Nation, Suzy Sheer, MGNA Crrrta, Club Cringe, and Frost Children at Rash.
Chicest Party Series returns for “Summertime Happiness.” Kiki Kramer, Bella Pietro, and Jade New York are directing the extravaganza with additional hosts Sophia Lamar, Din Lush, Isabel Jordan, and more. Veronica is performing, so is Kiki and Cosette Lunsford. Noah Shaub is taking pics and there will be a tarot readings, art, and cute stuff for sale at 161 Bowery. Afterparty is at Flings.
Later
Saturday (8/24), Justin Strauss is spinning at Jean’s, downstairs.
There’s a very special show featuring a very special project at The Shop August 30th with Voyeur, One, and DJ Moonbby.
My favorite band Savoia is headlining Bowery Electric August 31 supported by Hyderdaze and The Sheer Currents.
Mirror Selfies
I enjoy getting bewildered looks from the mothers of incoming students as their eyes go from my 5-inch platform boots to my studded cuff to my face and back to my boots, presumably asking themselves how a seemingly nice-looking girl went so wrong.
Boston lacks sex appeal. Here, my Set Active catsuits feel much more conspicuous and hyper-sexualized. I love it.

Love,
Nikole
